Living abroad cuts the flow of daily negativity from TV radio and other news outlets. It is possible to follow the news flows on the internet but you can easily not.
I have sworn off The Facebook so the swirling eddies of fake news generated there stays off my screens. I have tried to swear off Instagram but so far that has failed. I am addicted to images. The people I follow on Instagram are either friends or creative people who generate interesting and/or beautiful images.
One place I still frequent is twitter, it is full of news from sources I respect and also fake news that gets passed on unwittingly by those I follow. I want to keep the daily deluge of news to a minimum...... It is a work in progress.
